Doctor Kathy Burgoine works in a neonatal unit in Mbale, Uganda. There she focuses on clinical research and infant care. She founded the organization Born on the Edge in order to reach out to the vulnerable babies who are dying of malnutrition and weight loss. Their mission is "to and support babies born on the edge of life, viability and society in the poorest regions of the world through education, research and sustainable support."
I am hoping to raise money in order to purchase 20 neonatal bassinets for their clinic in Uganda as a way to support her charity. We visited Dr. Burgoine in the hospital she worked, and most of the babies had to share beds which increases the likelihood of diseases. These bassinets are essential for the health and safety of the new infants.
